Can I distribute music from multiple different artists or bands using a single artist name?

Modified on Tue, 10 Feb at 9:52 AM

No. Our platform requires that each unique musical artist or band must have their own, correctly spelled artist name in our system. You cannot release music from multiple, different artists under a single, shared artist name.

Why do we have this policy?

1. Accuracy for Stores & Streaming Services: We send your music to platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon. These services use the artist name as a primary way to organize music and create artist profiles. Combining different artists under one name creates an incorrect and merged artist profile, confusing fans.

2. Fan Discovery & Artist Identity: Fans search for their favorite artists by name. If music from different artists is grouped under one name, fans cannot find the correct artist, and each artist loses their unique identity and branding online.

What should I do instead?

For Each Unique Artist: Create a separate artist profile or project within your distributor account for each distinct musical act. Each profile should use that specific artist's exact, official name.

For Collaborations: When two artists collaborate on a single track, you can list both artists in the metadata fields provided (e.g., Primary Artist: "Artist A"&  Featuring Artist: "Artist B").

Simply put: One unique musical act = One dedicated artist name in our system. This ensures clean profiles and proper fan connections.
